L-A-Z-Y

My weekend was brought to you by those four letters and the number 4. Man I don't think I have ever had a lazier weekend. It involved much sleeping and lots of movie watching. I watched: Bull Durham, An Officer and a Gentleman, Throw Mama from the Train, Something's Gotta Give, Forrest Gump, Bring it On, and then several episodes of the Cosby Show.

I had a lot of fun just chilling out but now it's time to get down to business (haha-we'll see if that really happens).

Exam schedule:
Monday--A&P
Tuesday--Philosophy
Wed--Research methods presentation
Thursday--Testing
Friday--Physiological Psychology

Well I need to go and tame the afro I have going on!

Asheboro Weekend

What a great weekend!! Melissa, McKayla, Katie and I headed to Asheboro for the night Friday. WE then went to the Third day/ Toby Mac Concert in Greensboro. IT ROCKED!! I didnt know much of their music (although, I have to give a shout out to Roommate Courtny for the AirOne influence...I recognized some third day stuff!!) We had a lot of fun that night.

Then we went back to Katie's Aunt Marlo's house. They put us up for the night. Melissa and McKayla left on Saturday morning for various other activities. Katie and I went to Burlington with her friend who's getting married. She had to pick up a flower girl's dress. The best part of that trip was that she had just gotten a Mini Cooper!! Very cool to ride in. Sunroof in the back. Very cute!! Later that night, Katie's other aunt came over and we all ate pizza and watched a few movies!! Fun times!!

Sunday, we went to church at a very cool church on the top of a mountain. Then had chinese food and watched "Somewhere in Time" followed by a ping pong match with Steve and Ben. I studied a bit and then it was off to the Ginny Owens concert in Greensboro. She rocked!! Awesome voice, amazing piano skills and she's blind!!

Well after the concert is when the fun began!! Marlo got the courage to ask Ginny to play one of her songs on the piano while Marlo sang it!!! She agreed and after they had packed up and the place had cleared out, Ginny went to the piano and Marlo sang "I Just Want to Give this Life to You" by Ginny Owens!! We couldn't believe it and Marlo was just FLOATING!! She had a blast and we got it on tape. She said that it was the best birthday present she had ever gotten!!

Then we went to this really cool hotel dining room. Very neat atmosphere. Good chicken salad too. Then we had a little heart to heart moment in the car on the way home. Katie and I immediatly hit the hay upon arrival and got up the this morning EARLY EARLY to get back here for my test...which by the way I BEAT LIKE A RUG!!

Tonight it's a new 7th Heaven and then I might watch a little of "Twelfth Night" with Katie...who knows.

----------------------------->

Welcome back, melanie

Thanks....I have missed this. I sure wish I could update everyday. That way I can collect my thoughts and you all would have something to read.

These last few weeks have been CRAZY. Lots of work to do here at school, Easter break, trips home, trip to Katie's. Fun times, but busy busy busy!!

Countdown til summer: 16 days!!

I need a diversion. I want to get a hobby or something. Something to get my mind off of stuff that wastes my time. I personally don't think one particular subject is a waste of time, but those around me are tired of hearing it. Maybe this can become my hobby. I will try and update more often. Especially this summer. So peps know what's going on in Mel-ville.

I'm BAAACCCKKK in the saddle

Man I got out of the habit of posting everyday. Now I have A LOT to catch up on!!

Friday, March 5th---
Went to Rocky Mount to stay the night with Natalie!! We had fun. We hung out at her house, went to the mall, and went to a Women on Mission meeting. There we made blankets. Well....when I say we, I mean me and Natalie, and when I say made, I mean, I supervised Natalie while she pinned!! But it was all in good fun

Saturday---
I went back to Williamsburg. And visted with the family for a while and then went to an Aloha party at Heather and Melissa's. They were welcoming Erica into the apt and saying bon voyage to Heather and Adrien who were headed to Hawaii Tuesday.
But before then, I went to visit Crystal and her new baby, Emma Gabrielle. She is adorable.

Sunday---
Went to church and took a nice long nap.

Monday---
Didn't do too much really except sleep in and then watched 7th Heaven with the girls.

Tuesday---
Slept in again, and then ran errands with my mom all afternoon. Then I went and visited with Va. I always have such a good time talking to her. I really admire her and she gives great advice. I also went and visited Emma and Crystal again. This time I got to hold her for awhile and she was just a little angel.

Wednesday---
Went to Johnson-Willis Hospital to wait around with my dad while my mom was in surgery. Everything went wonderfully, and the doctor was very optimistic about there being no cancer left. Truely a work of God, and an answer to lots of prayers!! Melissa, Erica and I played Trivial Pursuit after Marge made us dinner!!

Thursday---
I slept in again and didn;t even think about getting out of my pj's until about 3:30pm. Melissa, Erica, James, Laura, Kristina and I went to dinner at LaTolteca. Then we (minus Laura and Erica) went to see "The Passion of Christ". It was worth seeing and I think that everyone (above 17) should see it, but I do not want to see it again. It was very bloody, and by about the middle of whipping scene, I just wanted to scream "Enough Already". It was very powerful, and not anti-semetic (you wouldn't even have known his accusors were Jewish, unless you knew before hand). I liked the way they showed Pilate.

Friday---
Slept in once again and once again, vegged out on the couch watching LIfetime sitcoms. I also watched the "SNL: 25th Anniversary" DVD--very good clips of Gilda Radner and some of the old cast members. Then Laura, and I watched "Pirates..." and "What Women Want" with Melissa and Erica. We also played Scrabble.

Saturday---
We just hung out, on the couch again and watched TV until my mom came home from the hospital. She was moving slowly, but doing well. The evening Melissa, Erica and I went to a William and Mary gymnastics meet. I had a lot of fun, and I am sure the others did too until they got bored. They were pretty good, and WM was winning when we left. Next we headed over to Melissa's parents' new home for a housewarming party. Fun as usual!!

Sunday---
Went to church and got to hold Emma again. She is such a cutie and I had to hold her one last time before heading back to NC for an undetermined amount of weeks. Then I dragged my feet all afternoon while I was supposed to go back to school. I mean I put in a load of laundry, then took a nap, then dried the clothes, then packed them up, then packed the car, the waited around for dinner, then went to Walmart, and then finally decided that I would get up early Monday morning and head back. Which is exactly what I did.

Today---
Woke up at 4:45 AM and pulled out of the drive-way at 5am heading west and then east. Nice drive with no traffic. And the rain didn't start until I crossed into NC.

Sorry

Sorry about not updating lately. I have been so busy with school, and everything else. Here is a little recap

Friday night=
Melissa, Katie, Billy, Tim, Eric and I headed to Carrboro (near Chapel Hill) to a club called Cat's Cradle (it's more of a run down warehouse-looking building in a strip mall) and saw a Beatle's Tribute band called Abbey Road!! They were AWESOME!! more pictures coming soon-->click here

They played the entire Abbey Road album and then came back for more classics (ie. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's CLub Band, Let it Be, Hey Jude, I am the Walrus, Blackbird) The best song in my opinion was Helter Skelter. They rocked that one like never before. It had three false endings. Katie and I finally started dancing by like the 5th song and NEVER stopped!! We had a blast!!

Saturday=
Heather and Melissa came down from Williamsburg for the weekend. We at at Bojangle's (Melissa's pick!) and then headed to Triangle Town Center to shop a little. I got a cute top at Hollister's and some shorts at Aeropostle. Heather and Melissa got some cute stuff too. Then we went to this very trendy restaurant: The Twisted Fork!! The food was really good, but the best part was the atmosphere.

Next we headed back to the mall to kill some time before Ice Skating. We went and tried on hideous prom dresses!! We had a great time.

Then we went to the IcePlex and skated around for about an hour. I love to ice skate. So much fun. And it wasn't too crowded which is great. After that, we met Tim and Katie at NC State (we got to go through a road block!!). We went to Krispey Kreme and got a dozen of donuts and then headed back to Campbell. We were exhusted by that time.

Snow Number 3

Well we woke up with delays all around us, but NO SNOW on the ground at all. But it didn't take long. It started snowing on my way to class around 9 am...at 11am the sidewalks were covered....at 11:30 there had to be at least three inches....at 12:30 we had 4 inches.....and before it was all over we had 6 inches. The forecast shows more snow on the way for us and rumors were that we could get up to a foot of this white stuff before the storm passes!!

My house

Listening to some Jars of Clay right now. I just can't get enough of these guys. I have never been into Christian rock. I must be like 10 years behind because Jars of Clay is growing on me!! Great songs. I am also getting into some dc Talk. They are too funny!!

Not much else going on around here. The Va girls are coming down here this weekend (weather permitting) and we are going ice skating. Stay tuned for those pictures!!

Rob Reiner: And now, a new feature on "Saturday Night", "What Melanie Ate." Melanie?

Thanks, Rob. Okay, I started the day with a store bought Krispy Kreme glazed donut. Then for lunch I had a slice of baked ham, some garlic mashed potatoes, sweet corn, some apple pie and a Dr. Pepper. I took a nap to avoid more eating. Then for dinner, I had a bowl of vegetable soup, pinapple tidbits, and a Dr. Pepper. I came back to the room and I finished up the two donuts I had left, ate a box of the candy hearts, but only the white, yellow and green ones, one truffle and a handful of Blue Corn Tostitos.

If you didn't recognize it, that is from the old SNL skit, "What Gilda Ate". Apparently my goal for tonight was to eat as much sugar as possible. It was crazy.

Well my weekend was awesome. Went to Altavist, Va to visit with my cousins. We had so much fun. Watched the classic movie "Animal House", went to Roanoke to the Market (which had the most beautiful flowers...Tulips are my new favorite flower. I decided that if my husband did something wrong, all he would have to do would be bring me a bunch of pink or yellow tulips, and he would be temporarily out of the dog house), had a wonderful lunch at Tavern on the Market, had great home-cooking all weekend (a wonderful change from the stuff they feed us here ::gag::), watched a few more movies (Finding Nemo, Lost in Translation, and Snatch [which I slept through because I got lost!]), and then church and chinese on Sunday. We had a lot of fun and I can't wait to go back again!!

Check out the pictures from this weekend way at the bottom

Back to the grind of things here at school now. No tests this week (fingers crossed) and not much due.
